San S. Hean will be sentenced Thursday, Oct. 26 for the shooting incident that occurred at Park Hill High School on April 11. Hean, 19, Kansas City, will be sentenced before Judge Ward B. Stuckey in Platte County Circuit Court. Hean pled guilty Sept. 14 to two counts of assault in the first degree and two counts of armed criminal action. Hean fired the weapon in the drive-by shooting that involved several Park Hill students.
In a meeting of the Platte County Salary Commission on Friday, Platte County’s elected officials voted down two motions that would have granted pay increases, then agreed to meet again to further discuss possible raises. Cautious about approved salary increases for county offices that begin new terms in 1997, the officeholders defeated motions that would have increased their salaries by eight percent and 13 percent. The salary commission then decided to meet again on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m.
In an effort to remember the survivors and victims of the Federal Building bombing in Oklahoma City, Okla., elementary school students from Barry School raised money to build a memorial completed in September.
Tammy J. Glick of Platte City has passed the Missouri Bar and has opened a law office in Kansas City.
