From left are Annabelle Kacz, Michael Kacz, Jamie Kacz and Happy Brosnahan at the Big Island in Hawaii. They were at the Papakolea Green Sand Beach. “It’s one of our favorite places to visit because it is so unique,” Jamie said. Its distinctive green color comes from olivine crystals, a mineral found in lava flows, which are abundant in the area’s volcanic cinder cone. The beach is one of only four green sand beaches in the world, making it a popular geological wonder for visitors. Headed somewhere noteworthy?
