Last fall, the Platte County R-3 Board of Education approved the sale of 2.5 acres to PC Medical Partners, LLC. The group is an orthopedic outfit with a medical office already located on Platte Falls Road in Platte City.

The property is south of Kentucky Avenue and west of Bent Oak Court. It is being sold by the school to PC Medical Partners for $762,300 for the 2.5 acres.

The tract is a portion of more than 32 acres of school district property near Compass Elementary that has been on the market for several years.

The surgery center/medical office is proposed as a single-level building with about 12,700 sq. ft. The building will consist of spaces for prep and recovery, a waiting room, staff and administration, storage and operating rooms.

According to the proposal details in Platte City Planning and Zoning documents, the ambulatory surgery center will be for day procedures, with no aspects of overnight stays.

“The building’s proposed use is for specialized health visits,” according to a site development plan report by Summer Lutz, building inspector and codes enforcement officer for the City of Platte City.

At a meeting on Jan. 7, the Platte City Planning and Zoning Commission agreed to forward along the future owners representative’s requests for rezoning the area from single family dwelling to general business district. Also forwarded were the requests for minor subdivision final plat for the addition and approval of a site development plan for the ambulatory surgery center.

The board of aldermen is expected to discuss and act on the agenda items at its Jan. 28 meeting, 5:30 p.m. at City Hall at 224 Marshall Road.

Atlas Land Consulting, the applicant and engineer out of Basehor, Kan., provided the application and civil plans for the submission. For the building design and elevations, Pulse Design Group in Kansas City provided the exterior schematic design and rendering. Land3 Studio of Lee’s Summit provided the landscaping plan.
