Platte County R-3 swimmer Josh Hulett’s time of 1:06.7 in the 100 meter breast stroke at the Jan. 4 meet held at Park Hill automatically qualified him to compete in the state meet in February. He is the first swimmer to qualify for state competition on the R-3 team.
Rod O’Connor, band director, and the Platte County R-3 Marching Band have received the honor of being invited to participate in the Citrus Bowl parade in Florida at the end of the year. The first informational meeting about the trip was held on Jan. 4, when it was requested that more time be given to the issue before a decision is made.
In their first administrative session of 1995 on Thursday, the three newly-elected commissioners of Platte County made appointments to various positions and approved the county holiday schedule for the year. Presiding Commissioner Betty Knight noted that Jane Henry has been appointed as administrative assistant. The commission approved the appointment of Carol Tharp as director of emergency preparedness for the county.
Saint Luke’s Northland Hospital received approval Monday from the Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee in Jefferson City to expand and renovate its Barry Road campus.
