NEAR THE 72ND STREET EXIT
Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash about a mile and a half south of the 72nd Street exit on Interstate 29 in Platte County.
The crash occurred at 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22 in the southbound lanes of traffic.
According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, traffic was slowing to a stop for a construction zone ahead when a 2014 Chrysler Town & Country struck the rear of a 2020 Chrysler 300.
All three of the injured were in the Town & Country. The driver, Leon J. Peterson, 62, of Beatrice, Neb., suffered moderate injuries. Mary R. Morgan, 73, of Beatrice, Neb. and Meredith M. Kuhnle, 35, of Beatrice, Neb. were passengers in the Town & Country and suffered minor injuries. All three were taken to North Kansas City Hospital.
Peterson was not wearing a safety belt, according to the highway patrol.
The driver of the Chrysler 300 was Herolynta H. Nashon, 28, of Kansas City. Nashon, who was wearing a safety device, was not injured.
Both vehicles are listed as a total loss.
