MAN WHO WAS ‘ACTING ERRATICALLY’ DEAD FROM GUNSHOT
The Platte County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at Dearborn this morning.
Major Erik Holland said the shooting occurred in the 15000 block of Masonic Drive in Dearborn around 9 a.m. Wednesday. Deputies responded to a report of a “partially clothed suspicious male party outside of a private residence.” Holland said the female homeowner told authorities the man was “praying to a pony” in the pasture near the residence then attacked a dog outside the residence. Authorities say when the suspicious party attempted to forcibly enter the residence, he was shot by the homeowner. Holland said when authorities arrived, the man was found dead from a gunshot wound at the entrance to the residence.
Holland told The Landmark that detectives are interviewing the homeowner and piecing together the sequence of events. He said it does not appear the homeowner knew the man. Holland said authorities have not yet been able to identify the man. He is described only as a white male, 30-40 years old.
The incident currently remains under investigation.
