The appointed individual will serve from the date of appointment through the April 2025 election.

Mayor Steve Hoeger encourages any interested residents to apply by contacting him at mayorhoeger@plattecity.org

“You must live in the second ward and be at least 21 years old to fill this position,” stated Hoeger. “This is a great opportunity to make a difference in Platte City and to serve the community.”

Hoeger said aldermen meet once a month as a board, with one to two additional evenings for subcommittee meetings.

Ward two is located in the south-central area of Platte City. It includes the area west of Fourth Street from Zed Martin to Wells Drive, excluding Atchison, Wallingford, O’Rourke, and portions of Mill and Academy Streets. From Wells Drive, the ward encompasses the area on both sides of Fourth Street south to the city limits.

A ward map is available on the mayor and aldermen page of the city website, www.plattecity.org.

Applicant review will begin immediately, as the city aims to fill the position before the end of August.

Interested residents should email the mayor at mayorhoeger@plattecity.org with an expression of interest and a brief description of their background.
