AS A SPECIAL PANEL MEMBER
The Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District convened court at its courthouse in Kansas City on June 18, with Platte Associate Circuit Court Judge Susan Casey as a panel member by special appointment from the Supreme Court of Missouri.
Joining Judge Casey on the panel were Chief Judge Gary Witt and Judge Janet Sutton from the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District.
Judge Casey earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Columbia and a Master of Science in journalism from the University of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign.
She was appointed as associate circuit judge in the 6th Judicial Circuit (Platte County) in February of 2024 by Gov. Mike Parson. Prior to taking the bench, Casey was a career law clerk and chief of staff to the Judge Roseann Ketchmark of the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
Casey also previously served as a law clerk to the Judge Ronnie White on the Missouri Supreme Court, Judge Hal Lowenstein of the Western District Court of Appeals, and the Chief Judge Judge Witt at Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District.
Chief Judge Witt stated, “Having worked with Judge Casey for many years, I know how hard she works, how incredibly bright she is and how dedicated she is to the rule of law. It was an honor to have Judge Casey sit with us today.”
