Several venues throughout Platte County and the Northland will be offering live music outdoors. One of those venues is Zona Rosa, the open-air, mixed-use shopping center located at the northwest corner of Interstate 29 and Barry Road.

Beginning in June, Zona Rosa will have outdoor concerts on Friday nights. Show time is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend.

The concerts will be held on the stage at Zona Rosa’s Central Park, which is the green space next to Bravo Italian Cucina.

The public is encouraged to bring a chair, blanket and friends and enjoy the free concerts.

“Come early for and get dinner at any of our restaurants. A spot on Bravo’s patio is the perfect place to hear the music,” Zona Rosa says on its website.

Some of the highlights on the Zona concert calendar will include The Suburbans on opening night, Friday, June 7. The Suburbans is a modern, pop, rock, funk, soul, disco, country cover band “that plays high-energy Top 40 hits from 50 years of popular music,” according to the band’s online information.

Other highlights of the summer concert series will include the bands Big Time Grain Co and The Zeros.

Big Time Grain Co will play on Friday, June 21. That band describes itself as “one of the fastest rising country bands in the Midwest.”

The Zeros, always a popular draw, will perform at Zona Rosa on Friday, July 12. The Zeros band is described as “a new wave and 80’s tribute band in Kansas City. The Zeros represent Kansas City’s first ‘hurricane’ of new wave and 1980s music. The Zeros offer the most authentic and dedicated 80s and new wave tribute in the Midwest complete with an electrifying and energetic stage show.”

Their website says The Zeros “combine a state-of-the-art sound and light show with equally impressive musical prowess to form their unique sound and presence. The Zeros perform only the most popular top 40 songs from the 80’s.”

Here is the complete schedule of summer concerts set at Zona Rosa. Again, all are on Friday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
