WHEN HIS TERM ENDS THIS YEAR
David Cox announced this week that he will retire at the end of his third term as the Platte County Assessor.
His term will expire on Dec. 31 of this year.
The assessor position is on the ballot at countywide elections later this year. Dagmar Wood, current first district county commissioner, has announced she will be running for assessor this year.
On Monday, Feb. 5, Marcus Farr announced that he will also be running for county assessor. Farr is currently a certified real estate appraiser and serving as an experienced appraiser in the assessor’s office.
“At the time I assumed office, I immediately restructured my team and prioritized quality, service and modernization. I moved all property data from papers in a box to an electronic format, produced streamlined and understandable filing forms, built an online filing system that is now used by over 50% of filers, and implemented annual performance reviews for my staff,” Cox said in a news release.
“Additionally, my team is diligent in monitoring Missouri statutes to ensure the office is in compliance with the law,” Cox added.
“As promised when I sought the assessor position in 2012, property valuations are now calculated in an objective and equitable fashion to reflect their current fair market value. As I look toward retirement, I am very proud of all my accomplishments and am honored to have served the citizens of Platte County,” stated Cox.
A Republican, Cox was first elected to the assessor position in November of 2012
