The Platte County Courthouse is nearing completion. The county court has informed The Landmark there is a good chance that some offices will be back in the new structure by Nov. 1, 1978. The total completion date is set for Jan. 31, 1979. The courthouse construction and renovation will cost $2,647,468. The cost exceeds the bond issue by $647,468. The county auditor’s office has prepared a balance sheet and a financial statement as of Oct. 1, 1978.
The Platte County Pirates and the West Platte Blue Jays battled to an 8-8 tie on the Pirates’ gridiron last Friday night in rain and mud, etc. West Platte scored in the first quarter on a 18-yard run by Sonny Cray. Jim Lincoln ran the two-point conversion. In the second quarter, Lee Tharp scored on a two yard run to cap a 17 play drive. Tharp carried the ball 27 times for 94 yards, then ran for the two point conversion.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Liberty of Weston announce the engagement of their daughter, Phyllis Elaine, to Steve W. Fulk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fulk of Farley. Miss Liberty is a 1977 graduate of West Platte High School and the Kansas City Dental Assistants’ College. She is employed with Dr. Dorsey in the Medical Arts Building in Leavenworth. The future bridegroom is also a graduate of West Platte High School, Class of 1976. He is employed at the Platte City Farm Equipment Company in Platte City.
