A critical injury in crash on Hwy. 152

The crash occurred at the 17.4 mile marker, which is just south of Exit 18 at Platte City. A southbound 2013 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Caden M. Schweitzer, 20, of Lee’s Summit traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a bridge pillar. The Missouri State Highway Patrol report indicates Schweitzer lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway. Schweitzer suffered moderate injuries and was taken by private vehicle to a Kansas City hospital. A passenger, Logan M. Hickman, 20, of Lee’s Summit, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The same location–the 17.4 mile marker–was the site of a crash the next morning, Monday, July 31 at 10:54 a.m.

In that crash, a 2000 Peterbilt tractor trailer struck the rear of a 2009 Toyota Camry, causing minor injuries for two occupants of the Camry, according to the highway patrol’s crash report.

The truck was driven by Jacob C. Holmes, 30, of Grant City. The Camry was drive by Sandra K. Vanmeer, 68, of Arlington, Tex. Vanmeer suffered minor injures and transported to a local hospital. Her passenger, Cynthia D. Horn, 69, suffered minor injuries and was also transported to a local hospital.

The Camry suffered moderate damage and was towed from the scene. Damage to the Peterbilt was minor and it was driven from the scene.
