MURDER/SUICIDE IN DALLAS COUNTY, TEX.
A Park Hill High School graduate who later became Park Hill South basketball coach shot and killed his wife inside the Dallas County medical examiner’s office in Texas, authorities in Dallas County, Tex. say.
According to police, Jed Frost, 51, shot and killed his wife, Beth Frost, 46, at the Dallas County medical examiner’s office on Tuesday, Nov. 8 about 4:45 p.m. Beth worked as a medical examiner at the office. Jed and Beth were found dead in a second floor office, police say, and a second employee of the office was injured. Police say Jed Frost is believed to have shot his wife and the other employee before turning the gun on himself.
The couple was married but estranged, according to reporting by the Dallas Morning News. Dallas County court records show Beth Frost filed for divorce on May 2. The couple had been married since 2001 and had two children together, a 9-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy.
The couple still has ties to Platte County. Jed Frost’s parents reside in northern Platte County, near Platte City.
Beth Frost had been with the Dallas County medical examiner’s office since June 20202, coming from the Maricopa County medical examiner’s office in Phoenix, Az., according to the Dallas Morning News. She had previously been the Dallas office’s forensic pathology fellow from 2016-17, the newspaper reported.
Jed Frost was an All-Metro player at Park Hill High who played for the Missouri Tigers as a walk-on in 1990. He played at Missouri from 1990-94 and as a senior was part of the team o that went undefeated in Big Eight play. Frost appeared in 79 games with six starts, averaging 1.7 points in his college career.
In 2000, Frost was named the Kansas City Metro basketball coach of the year after guiding Park Hill South to the state championship game just one year after a 1-23 season. He also coached at Odessa High and later was part of staffs at Iowa State and Hawaii.
The Dallas Morning News reports Beth Frost filed for divorce on May 2.

“According to a lawsuit filed Aug. 2 in Dallas County, Jed Frost’s father was seeking $228,916 he said the couple owed him from a series of loans. James Frost Sr. said he gave them the money to purchase property, including one house in 2006 and another in 2010, along with covering medical and living expenses, the lawsuit says.
The Dallas Morning News went on to report that: “The lawsuit said the couple had paid just under $75,000 toward the balance and was ‘fully aware’ James Frost Sr. expected to be repaid in full. However, the lawsuit goes on to say when he demanded the remaining payment from the couple, they refused.
“An October court filing shows that Beth Frost denied her father-in-law’s allegations and requested that the lawsuit be consolidated into the divorce case.”
The newspaper also reported that court records showed Jed Frost was being sued by State Farm Federal Credit Union over a loan of about $50,000 and that Frost denied owing the money.
