The new $3 million Platte City Middle School will be officially dedicated in a ceremony at 2 p.m. this Sunday. The public is invited for the ceremony and to look over the new building. The new school opened this fall to 303 students. The old Platte City Middle School now becomes known as the Intermediate School.
Jennifer Lorraine Lowman and John Joseph Allen Collier were united in marriage on April 6, 1991 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Parkville by Father Bruce of Holy Trinity in Weston. The bride is the daughter of Mary Ruth and Bob Peck of Platte City, and Kelly and Nancy Lowman of Kansas City, Kan. The groom is the son of Charlotte and Raymond Stapper of Weston. The reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the Cosada Delmar Gardens. The couple is residing in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
The Platte County Commission last week voted unanimously to comply with the new statewide ethics law by filing under Section 105.485.4. The form will be filed with the campaign reporting division of the office of the Secretary of State. The policy and resolution will then stand adopted annually unless it is repealed or modified by the state legislature.
Army Reserve Private Lyle M. Sharpe has completed basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, and map reading.
