COVID vaccination clinics planned at Riverside

The Platte County Health Department is expecting to have 1,700 doses of COVID-19 vaccine at its disposal for shots to be given over the course of the next week.

That was the word this week from Mary Jo Vernon, director of the health department.

Asked what phase/tier of registered recipients are being reached, Vernon said:

“We are still in Tier 1B, trying to prioritize the population over 70 years of age who have completed the survey on our website.”

As doses are available, schedulers will reach out to contact folks who have registered and are in the tier being served.

Vaccination clinics will be held next week, Tuesday through Thursday, March 2-4, at a warehouse in Riverside. That site is at 4400 NW 41st St in Riverside.

Vernon said the expected 1,700 doses consists of:

.300 Pfizer doses given to the health department by Saint Luke’s North Hospital.

.975 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, “which you can typically get extra doses out of each vial so we estimate 1,100 doses to schedule,” Vernon says.

.About 300 Moderna doses through the State of Missouri’s Region A allotment (Regional Implementation Team) for last week and this week. Last week’s shipments of vaccine were held due to the weather at Operation Warp Speed, Vernon said.
