The Missouri Department of Revenue has filed an injunction to close a hotel near Kansas City International Airport for operating without a state sales tax license and failure to pay state sales taxes. The petition for injunction, filed Monday in Platte County Circuit Court, asks for the closure of the Comfort Inn, located at 11100 NW Ambassador Dr., Kansas City, until its management begins to abide by Missouri tax laws.
The Parkville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its 5th annual Denim and Diamonds gala on Saturday at the Olde Mill in Downtown Parkville. Among the awards presented included the Deb Hopkins Distinguished Citizen award given to Parkville businessman and resident Jim McCall. McCall, a longtime local restaurant owner and now a financial representative for Country Financial, who has been involved in the Parkville community for over 25 years.
Local businessman Randy Kindred extended a special invitation to Platte City officials to join in the announcement of plans to expand the services and products offered at The Goldfather. Kindred is a gem vision designer who operates from a business suite at 1820 Prairie View Road in Platte City. Two area residents will be joining his business in the coming weeks. The city recognized The Goldfather’s contribution to Platte City’s growing business community. Kindred is pictured with Platte City Mayor Frank Offutt.
