IN KANSAS CITY IN PLATTE COUNTY
Kansas City police responded to the area of NW 106th and N. Pomona on a confirmed fatality collision/pedestrian struck at about 7 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 22.
Police say preliminary investigation revealed that a semi-truck driver had exited his vehicle and was standing in a lane of travel on N. Pomona. The driver/pedestrian was struck, knocked to the ground and then run over by a white Kalmar Hustler (trailer tug) that was traveling southbound on Pomona.
The driver/pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Kalmar was not injured in the collision.
A Kalmar Hustler is a specialized, heavy-duty vehicle used in logistics to efficiently move semi-trailers, shipping containers, and other large cargo within confined areas like ports, distribution centers, and warehouses.
