EDITOR:

Interesting business, government, that elected officeholders can establish their salary without the input or approval of those they work for…us the citizens.
Hard to understand and difficult to swallow that they can give themselves a 30% increase in salary when their current salary is already 25% above the $60K average income of Platte County citizens whom they swore to serve. (Source: MERIC)

There’s never been a salary increase that has ever lessened workload, increased efficiency or made a worker more productive. If there are operational challenges in county offices, then it makes a lot more sense to direct those additional salary dollars to improving processes, applying technology and/or hiring additional help if needed.

There are some very bright young folks in our local high schools who are in FBLA and work-study programs that could serve our county well, while gaining referenceable work experience.

Ask: Please use our tax dollars well, not line your pockets with our hard-earned monies.
