NORTHEAST OF I-29 AND HWY. 152
Hundreds of new apartments are on the way in Platte County in the Tiffany Springs area.
In late August, the Port KC Board of Commissioners signed off on a proposal from Quadrant Communities for the $46.5 million Tiffany Square Apartments project, to be located just northeast of Interstate 29 and Hwy. 152 off Old Tiffany Springs Road.
The location is just south of Kansas City International Airport.
The project will include a mix of market-rate studios, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms and three-bedrooms, totaling 228 units. Amenities will include a clubhouse, a pool, green space and a fitness center. There will be 320 parking spaces.
Developers say the project will add needed workforce housing in a growing area with a rising number of jobs.
The Kansas City Star recently reported that Edison at Tiffany Springs, a Qudrant project just to the west from the Tiffany Square area, has units listed for rent ranging between $1,035 for a smaller one-bedroom to $1,695 for a larger two-bedroom.
The Port KC board approved a financing plan that includes $3.7 million in property tax exemptions over 10 years, while the project will generate $1.7 million in new property tax revenue during that time, according to developers.
The developer will also pay $1 million into the City of Kansas City’s housing trust fund, which offers grants to affordable housing projects. The payment is estimated to be able to contribute to the creation of 61 affordable units on average.
Officials say the project falls under a broader vision for retail and housing development off Old Tiffany Springs Road.
