Democracy did not end last week, but I think we might have seen the beginning of the end of polling. The most interesting part of this election to me is the death of the polls. You know what replaced it? Gambling. Gamblers, bad and good, know that betting on two sides of an outcome is almost always the universal equalizer and outcome predictor, moving the odds as they bet. Legalized betting markets on the Trump vs. Harris race told us what was going to happen, but only one side was paying much attention.
Polls that call 100 people or 400 people are just not going to work anymore because most sane people barely answer unknown calls at this point, but tracking the flow of money might.
The last eight years of presidential politics has been entertaining if nothing else. The liberal meltdown has been an interesting watch for a week, and I’ve enjoyed it, just like they would have had the opposite transpired. Probably only last a few months or so before the tides turn again, but then I can start following the Trump Presidential Library construction plan for kicks.
I hope I live long enough to visit the Trump library. I suppose it will be in Florida and if it does not have his McDonald’s apron and a trash truck in it, I’ll be disappointed. I suppose it will be “YUGE” and have lots of tile. They’ll probably have free Diet Coke, but probably a tariff charge as you exit.
If you cry or have a mental breakdown over presidential politics, you need some more problems in your life, because you do not have enough. Really, if this impacted you that much you need some problem children, eating disorder or a mild addiction problem to concentrate on. Maybe start going to the boats or get on some gambling apps.
Do we still call the casinos boats? Has casino money saved the schools yet?
I tend to share what I believe are thought provoking tweets, Tik Toks or articles by text with my grown children and I notice they often ignore them without comment. It dawned on me that sharing a financial or life hack story tweet with my grown children is the equivalent of when my parents would cut out an article from the newspaper or a Consumer Reports column and make sure they gave it to me when I would stop by. It was usually paper clipped or laid neatly in paper sack with some food or such staples they were giving me. Turns out the contents of the bag were my main focus, which also explains the lack of attention the shared advice brings in modern days.
My in-laws made the trek from Barry Road area to the Platte County Courthouse last week to “freeze” their property taxes and reported the process as successful with full county cooperation. I’m not sure what young, probably dual career Platte County family is now going to pay more taxes, but someone is. Happy senior discount day to all the middle-aged taxpayers out there who will now endure this unconstitutional tax hike. Thankfully, seniors will no longer have to take their money out of the stock market, lake house or the sock drawer and can instead rely on young people to just work a little harder.
