Approximately 380 acres of the prettiest land around, located three miles north of Platte City on the west side of Hwy. 371, has been designated the Guy B. Park Conservation Area, after the former Missouri governor from Platte County. The parcel was purchased by the Missouri Department of Conservation from Linda and Curt Rodgers this summer. Preliminary development of the site will not begin until funding is appropriated, most likely sometime after July 1, 1995, according to Phil Jeffries, MDC fisheries district supervisor.
The Platte City Board of Aldermen approved the hiring of Virginia (Ginny) Musgrave as the city’s first fiscal officer Monday night. Musgrave has extensive accounting experience in the areas of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and other related bookkeeping and investment areas. She is currently employed as an office manager/full-charge bookkeeper will begin her employment with the city on Nov. 21.
Nathan Woods, fourth grader at North Platte Elementary, is being transformed into KC Wolf, the Kansas City Chiefs mascot. Students at the North Platte Elementary and middle schools learned that being a mascot is not as easy as it looks. The Chiefs mascot for five years, Dan Meers, spoke to the students Thursday about what it takes to be a winner.
