MoDOT has announced that crews will extend the ongoing lane closure on southbound I-29 just south of MO Route 273 at Tracy.

Originally scheduled to be completed Nov. 4, the lane closure will now be in place through Monday, Nov. 11.

Crews are currently working on the inside lane through Monday, Nov. 4 (approximately). Crews will then move to work on the outside lane on southbound I-29, Nov. 4-Nov. 11 (approximately).

MoDOT says this lane closure is for bridge work over the Platte River overflow.

“Avoid the area if possible and use an alternate route. All work is weather permitting,” MoDOT said in making its announcement.

Long backups on southbound I-29 extending from Tracy north to near the Camden Point exit, approximately five miles in distance, have been common while the work is going on.

The backup was the site of a fatal crash on Wednesday, Oct. 23 when an infant died and four others were hurt in a four-vehicle crash that began when a tractor-trailer ran into the rear of a Toyota.
