An investigation is continuing and more charges may be forthcoming from a fatality incident at Northmoor early Sunday morning. A 23-year-old Liberty man is charged with a Class D felony of leaving the scene of a fatality accident. The man’s vehicle allegedly struck three pedestrians, as well as another vehicle, according to court papers filed by Sgt. DJ Hedrick with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Though authorities aren’t releasing many details at this point, reports indicate several people may have been involved in a physical disturbance at the scene before the suspect got into a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the incident occurred.

After dissolving a 10-year relationship with the Platte City Chamber of Commerce last month, Platte City is now looking within for a new direction on the topic of economic development. On Tuesday night, Mayor Frank Offutt appointed Aldermen Debbie Kirkpatrick, Ron Stone and Aaron Jung to the city’s newly-formed economic development subcommittee that will meet once a month.

A copy of The Landmark was on hand at Estes Park, Colo. as Joyce Craven of Platte City vacationed there. Joyce and her three daughters and a granddaughter rented a cabin at Estes Park and spent a long weekend horseback riding and feeding the chipmunks, among other activities. Joyce held a copy of The Landmark in front of another landmark just outside Estes Park.
