Platte City’s public utilities may be stimulated soon. Platte City was approved to receive funding to increase the size of a sewer line through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA, also known as the Stimulus Bill). The ARRA funds will provide half the funding for the $1.3 million project.

The city limits of Platte City could soon be growing after a petition for voluntary annexation was received. Platte City received the petition from Ben Fries of Fries Lawn and Leisure for voluntary annexation of his property along Prairie View Road, south of Hwy. 92. The property currently contains the business Fries Lawn and Leisure and also an open area to the north. The preliminary plat is for a 2.14 acre commercial project with 1.22 acres for a 6,320 square foot addition to the business. There is also an additional 0.92 acres platted to have an 11,000 sq. ft. building.
