Events are set for Thursday through Saturday, starting with a wine walk Thursday, a street dance with live music Friday, various daytime activities on Saturday and a music concert on the lawn of the Platte County Courthouse on Saturday night.

It all kicks off with a Wine Walk on Thursday evening at 301 Main Street, put on by The Farmer’s House. Participants in this ticket-required event will sip, shop and stroll to live music by Neon Harvest while visiting 10-plus different sites for wine tastings.

Participants will also enjoy a full glass of wine, a personal charcuterie box, exclusive access to the Farmer Art Show and a swag bag including a silicone wine tumbler to take e home.

Those with VIP tickets can arrive at 5:30 p.m. All other ticketed guests can get in at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale at https://donate.thefarmershouse.org/event/wine-walk/e545066

The mission of The Farmer’s House is to empower youth and adults with developmental disabilities to pursue their best lives! This is accomplished by providing innovative programming focused on early work experience, employment placement, community inclusion and social enrichment.

MAIN STREET CELEBRATION

A two-day event known as the Main Street Celebration will be held Friday and Saturday.

On Friday evening, June 7, Barley & Vine is sponsoring a street dance with live music provided by Noah Austin. A country music artist, Austin will be performing from 6-9 p.m. Friday as Barley & Vine, a wine bar and brewery at 246 Main Street, “takes the party outside.”

There will be food trucks on the street Friday night, June 7, with menu items available for purchase.

On Saturday, June 8, a pancake feed starts the day at 9 a.m. at the Harper Haus Music Company located at 200 Main Street. The first 200 guests will eat free.

At 11 a.m. on Saturday, a parade is scheduled on Main Street. If you’re interested in being part of the parade, email dtplattecity@gmail.com. There is no fee to enter. Jeeps and classic cars are among those encouraged to enter the parade.

Food trucks will be on Main Street on Saturday, offering menu items for purchase.

From 12 noon until 6 p.m. Saturday, a variety of activities will be happening on Main Street. Among the offerings will be live music, bounce houses for the kids, a vendor market, a car show, face painting, a dunk tank, and free tacos at La Cabana Mexican Restaurant, 325 Main Street.

According to the Downtown Platte City Association, there will be charges for the face painting. Other afternoon activities listed are free.

Then on Saturday night, the lawn of the Platte County Courthouse will be the site of a concert sponsored by the Platte City Friends of the Arts. A summer concert series kicks off with Stage Revolution performing. The night will feature rock band students from Harper Haus Music in Platte City.

Sarah Rudis, president of the Downtown Platte City Association, said the Main Street Celebration event “promises to be a vibrant and engaging experience for our community, showcasing local businesses, artisans, and community spirit.”
