Mr. and Mrs. L. Kyle Hern of Platte City announce the birth of their son on Wednesday, May 30, 1979 at the North Kansas City Hospital.


The Platte County Fair Queen contest will be held again this year in conjunction with the Platte County Fair July 18-21. There will be a public pageant with swimsuit and evening gown competition. The coronation will be held the first night of the fair. Anyone interested in being a contestant should contact Mrs. Andy M. Jones of Kansas City.

The Christian Women’s Fellowship of the Christian Church of Platte City met Thursday. Installation of officers was as follows: president, Mrs. Helen Porter; vice president, Sarah Jane Higgins; secretary-treasurer, Lorene Cox. The Rev. Lester Weeks showed slides of the Holy Land.


A wedding reception honoring the marriage of Lawrence Anderson and Deana Seckel will be held Saturday, June 2, 1979 at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Billy G. Anderson, 408 Second Street, Platte City. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to share this celebration.
