New restaurants set at Metro North Crossing

Third Street Social has opened in Metro North Crossing, which a development at Hwy. 169 and Barry Road in the Northland.

NEWS AND UPDATES ON THE METRO NORTH CROSSING DEVELOPMENT

IAS Partners is sharing news for its 106-acre, $250 million Metro North Crossing development, including new tenants, updates on current and previously announced tenants, as well as plans for a high-end grocery store.

The development is at the former site of the Metro North Mall, Hwy. 169 and Barry Road in the Northland.

New Tenants

·Thai Orchid: The second-generation family-owned Thai restaurant will open a second location of its wildly popular Mission, Kan., restaurant in late 2024, occupying 4,000 square feet on the ground floor of the Woodstone mixed use project. Additional tenants within Woodstone that are open for business include Third Street Social, Bloom Nails & Spa, HOTWORX, Hull House Coffee and Select Physical Therapy. The Rojjanasrirat family has owned Thai Orchid since 1998.

·Andy’s Frozen Custard: Founded in 1986 with its first location in Osage Beach, Mo., Andy’s is an award-winning frozen custard and treat shop, known for its made fresh hourly frozen custard and baked fresh daily toppings. Andy’s focus on family and community stems from a long history as a family-owned business with a desire to bring a slice of hometown America to each and every location. Metro North Crossing will be the 15th KC area location.

·Third Street Social: This locally-owned concept by restauranteurs Andy Lock and Domhnall Molloy recently opened and is an anchor tenant of the 7,000 square-foot of the Woodstone mixed use luxury apartment building in Metro North Crossing. This is the third location for Third Street Social, joining the original location in downtown Lee’s Summit and the most recent location south of the Country Club Plaza. Third Street Social is known for its classic American burgers and comfort food like fried chicken, chicken pot pie and shrimp and grits.

It has a lively bar with an extensive cocktail, wine and beer list. The restaurant serves lunch, dinner, daily happy hour and weekend brunch.

Tenant Updates – Recently Opened or Previously Announced:

·KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot: A late 2024 opening is planned for the first Kansas City, Mo., location of KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot. It will also serve as the first tenant of the new, freestanding, $5 million, 15,000 square foot building designed for restaurant and retail tenants in Metro North Crossing. KPOT is a unique, hands-on, all-you-can-eat dining experience that merges traditional Asian Hot Pot with Korean BBQ flavors, modernized with a full bar and nightlife-like atmosphere. KPOT will occupy 7,500 square feet and the development team anticipates having the remaining 7,500 square feet of space leased this Summer.

·Select Physical Therapy: With multiple locations in the Kansas City region, Select Physical Therapy recently opened in Metro North Crossing. Select Physical Therapy is part of the Select Medical Outpatient Division, a nationally renowned and community-based provider of outpatient physical therapy and rehabilitation.

·Woodstone at Metro North Crossing: The first phase of the Woodstone at Metro North Crossing luxury apartments are 98-percent leased. A second phase of the Woodstone project is part of the development’s future plans but the commencement date for construction is still to be determined.

Additional Phases
·Future phases of the project will include additional sit-down restaurants. Medical office space and one to two hotels are also included in the overall development plan.

In the Works: “From Day 1, it’s been important to us to attract a smaller format grocer with offerings that would be unique to the Northland. We constantly keep in touch with our short list of potential targets and we feel confident that the timing will align as we continue with this project,” says Dan Horn, development manager for Metro North Crossing.

Horn continued to say, “Metro North Crossing is quickly becoming a great addition to the Northland. It’s great to watch the revitalization of this area unfold and we’re proud to be a part of it. It’s a constant balance to remain patient while also moving the project forward. We want to make sure we bring the right tenants to this project that the Northland will benefit from long-term.”

The total projected cost of the development is estimated at more than $250 million with an estimated $100 million invested to date on the completed phases, including the $60 million Woodstone luxury apartments.
