Employees of Maxon America and Maxon Systems donated 45 toy bears to the Platte County Sheriff’s Department last week. The sheriff’s department gives the bears to children who have been involved in accidents, domestic disputes or other traumatic events. The donated bears began with donations from one of Maxon’s vendors, Bushart Office Supply. Employees became excited about the idea and brought in more bears. The Edgerton Boy Scouts and the Dearborn Methodist Church have also donated bears to the sheriff’s department. Pictured were Maxon employees who organized the event, including Jerri Smith and Mary “Sam” Simmons, with Captain Frank Thurman of the Platte County Sheriff road patrol.
