VOTERS TO DECIDE WHETHER TO INCREASE BOARD FROM THREE TO FIVE

The Central Platte Fire Protection District is proposing to expand its board of directors from three positions to five.

A ballot question seeking the two additional board members will face voters in April, says Troy Miller, fire chief.

“It’s a significant development in ongoing commitment to transparency and community representation. And a response to the growing needs and expanding responsibilities of the fire district,” Miller says.

“By increasing the number of board members, we aim to enhance our governance structure, foster greater community involvement and provide a broader range of perspectives for decision-making and representation,” Miller said.

Miller said if approved, the expansion will align “with our vision for continued growth and improved service delivery. The two new board member positions will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the district and contributing to the safety and well-being of our residents.”

Miller said the fire district “encourages all eligible community members who are passionate about fire protection and emergency services to consider running for these new board member positions.”

Miller said filing information will be posted as it becomes available.
