Jody and Kim Morris of Liberty, formerly of Platte City, are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter, Kelsey Marisa Morris. Kelsey was born July 2, 1993, 2:46 p.m. at Liberty Hospital. She weighed seven pounds, four ounces and was 19.5 inches long.


Amy Schneider, Fayette, was crowned the 1993 Missouri State Fair queen in the Exhibition Center in Sedalia. The daughter of Steve and Shary Emme and Claire Schneider, Amy, 21, is a senior pre-medicine and biology major at Central Methodist College. Pictured were Director of Agriculture John L. Saunders, Schneider, State Fair Director Roger Alewel and the 1992 Missouri State Fair Queen Leann Murphy. The fair continues through Aug. 29.

Starting the season in stride are the members of the Platte County Pirate cross country team, a new sport at R-3 this year. Team members include Roger Hendry, Scott Cummings, Johnathan Stapely, Craig Stephens, Phillip Knight, Megan Boddicker, Brett Adams, Neil Elliott, Grant Davis, and coach Frank Wheeler.


Sylvia Anderson of Camden Point has joined the staff of The Landmark as a reporter/photographer. Mrs. Anderson grew up in south Kansas City and is a graduate of Center High School. She is also a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations.
