Motorcyclist killed in crash involving wrong-way driver

A motorcyclist died following a crash with a wrong-way vehicle late Tuesday, Aug. 8 on Barry Road, Kansas City in Platte County.

According to Officer Alayna Gonzalez, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, officers responded just before 10 p.m. to the crash in the area of NW Barry Road and North Marston Avenue.

Police said a black Lexus GS 300 exited a driveway and began traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Barry Road. A Honda CVR 600 RS motorcycle traveling westbound struck the vehicle head on. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lexus driver was not injured.

KCPD identified the victim as Gregory D. Hayes, age 19.
