Price, 17, had graduated from Park Hill High School two days prior to the crash. He was a KC Scholars student and had plans to attend Missouri Western State University on a full scholarship. He had played football for Park Hill High School.

The crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. the evening of May 23 on Northwest 68th Street and NW Waukomis Road, Kansas City in Platte County.

Kansas City police say a black Toyota Corolla was traveling west on NW 68th Street at a high rate of speed. In the intersection, the Toyota struck a gold Chevy Impala that was eastbound and turning north onto NW Waukomis.

The Toyota then struck a red Volkswagen that was stopped facing south at the light, waiting to turn west. The Toyota then struck the northwest traffic signal pole and went off the roadway down the embankment. Price was the rear passenger. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver and front passenger were wearing their seatbelts and suffered minor injuries. The drivers of the Chevy and Volkswagen were not injured in the collision. They both were wearing their seatbelts.

Kansas City police said this is the 31st fatality crash in the city this year, compared to 38 at this time last year.
