NEW BRIDGE PROJECT TO BEGIN IN 2026

The Kansas Department of Transportation, in coordination with the Missouri Department of Transportation, is hosting a public information open house for the K-92 Centennial Bridge replacement project on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The Hwy. 92 Centennial Bridge over the Missouri River connects Platte County with Leavenworth, Kan. As the only Missouri River crossing within a 38-mile area, Centennial Bridge is a vital resource for those who work and live in Leavenworth County, Kan. and Platte County.

The current bridge was constructed in 1955.

The public is invited to attend the open house style meeting anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade Street, Leavenworth, Kan.

Replacement of the existing bridge is necessary as the structure is nearing the end of its useful life and major repairs to the steel structure will become more numerous and expensive over time. The project is expected to begin in 2026 and be completed in 2029.

At the open house, attendees can learn about the project background, design process and work schedule. KDOT staff and project team members will be available to answer questions. There will not be a formal presentation.

For those unable to attend the in-person meeting, the project website (www.newcentennialbridge.org) will offer materials presented at the open house, as well as a portal to submit questions and comments through an online form that goes directly to the project team for review. On the website, individuals, organizations and businesses can also sign up to receive project updates via email.
