EDITOR:
I just read Debbie Coleman-Topi’s “Importance of Print Journalism” that appeared in the Feb. 1 edition of The Landmark. What a terrific article. Debbie’s analysis of the background of print journalism and particularly her focus on the importance of smaller, locally-focused newspapers. The article clearly defines the how important and necessary local journalism is in keeping governments and other public agencies honest and accountable.
Please let Debbie know that she is appreciated for her work in journalism and for reminding people of the importance of local news to the public, even if they don’t really think about it.
I hope more people will take the time to express their appreciation to people like Debbie and Ivan for their energy and dedication in keeping local news and journalism alive.
Thanks, Debbie and Ivan.
