Week 18 – And Just Like That it was Over

And just like that it’s over….

The 2022 season of Landmark Pick’em is complete and so is the Green Bay Packer’s 2022 season, courtesy of the Detroit Lions.  Allegedly at the beginning of the Packers v Lions game, as the Detroit Lions took the field, having just been eliminated by the playoffs via the Seahawks win moments earlier, the Lambeau Field attendees began serenading the Lions players by singing the “Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye” song by Steam.  If you fast forward through 60 minutes of football and look carefully you can actually see Karma standing on the sideline as the Packers lose the game and also get eliminated from the 2022 playoffs.

Landmark columnist and conspiracy theory expert Brad Carl believes that the NFL may have partnered with Karma to stage the whole Seahawks, Lions, Packers elimination drama in an attempt to drive higher ratings for Sunday Night Football; other theories include that Karma is a season ticket holder for the Packers.  Brad is currently researching the matter and will be reaching out to Karma for a quote.

And just like that it was over…. But wait – there’s more.

In celebration of the Lions’ grit and what must have been a sad and confusing ride home for Packers fans, Tech Guy Schneider has added the NFL Wild Card Week to Pick’em “for funnzies”. If you’d like to participate you can do so via the Your Picks at a Glance Page.  Schneider may continue doing this for the divisional and championship round as well, so stay tuned.

Important Note for the bonus week(s): The Point Spread and Over/Under for the Wildcard Week and beyond will not update as the week progresses; they will stay the same as they were when initially entered into our backend database. In addition, the scores for the entire week will not be updated until after the final game is played on Monday. (Schneider will be out of town for his anniversary and will be updating the database as his schedule, and Mrs. Schneider, allows)

The winners for Week 18 of the Pick’em 2022 season in order are:

  1. Susie Sheppard Williams with 13 picks correct.
  2. John Wallis with 12 picks correct and 18 tie-breaking points (including a “Foley” for his early pick).
  3. Allen Smith with 12 picks correct and 17 tie-breaking points.

Winners please email your mailing address to ivan@plattecountylandmark.com and we’ll get your gift cards from our prize sponsors in the mail to you.

Hats off to our Week 18 winners.  Don’t forget to make your Wild Card Week picks before Saturday morning.
