Bob Foster, vice principal of Fort Osage Junior High in northeast Independence, has been hired as principal at West Platte High School in Weston.


Two girls tied with the same grade point average have been declared valedictorians of the class of 1992 at North Platte R-1 High School at Dearborn. They are Amy Buckler, daughter of Steve and Vickie Buckler, Dearborn, and Nikki Chambers, daughter of Harold and Christine Chambers, Platte City.

Next basketball season, Kathy Hatfield will get to know what it’s like to be on both sides of the Platte County vs. West Platte rivalry. Hatfield announced this week she has accepted the position of head girls basketball coach at West Platte. She’ll still be employed at Platte County R-3 and still coach girls volleyball at R-3.


Gay Stuart, who teaches French at Platte County R-3 High School, was presented the Christa McAuliffe Pioneer in Education plaque at the recent KCI/Northland Chamber of Commerce Education Banquet. The award is given to a teacher who has demonstrated a pioneering spirit in the course of her teaching career.


The Platte County R-3 High School Band will present its annual Rose Concert on Tuesday, May 19, 7:30 p.m. in the Platte City Middle School auditorium.
