Parks and recreation outreach grants awarded

Totaling more than $209,000

A dozen entities have been authorized to receive park outreach grants from Platte County. The outreach grants are funded with revenues from the county’s quarter cent sales tax for parks and stormwater.

The grants total more than $209,000 and are for park and recreational facility and program projects for the listed amounts:

Dearborn Betterment Committee: to go toward a Dearborn area veterans memorial, $7,518.54.

Line Creek Elementary School: playground innovation and transformation, $26,364.

City of Parkville: riverfront lighting project, $17,350.

Parkville Community Development Corporation: Downtown restroom project, $40,000.

City of Riverside: linear trail, final phase. $30,000.

Weatherby Lake Park Board: inclusive playground equipment, $14,374.

City of Camden Point: veterans memorial and flag pole, $8,285.

Southern Platte County Athletic Association: soccer goals, $10,000.

Weston Community Theatre, update portable microphone system, $10,000.

Platte County Historical Society: restoration updates to the Ben Ferrel Museum, $10,173.

Weston Historical Museum: exploring Weston’s African American heritage, $34,421.

Platte City Friends of the Arts: Jazz Appreciation Month concert, $1,019.

Execution of the above agreements was approved on Monday by the Platte County Commission.
