Students appeared before the North Platte R-1 School Board last week to ask the board to adopt a smoke free district policy with smoking banned in all R-1 district buildings and at all school activities. The board took it under advisement but the superintendent speculated such a ban would probably not be implemented until the following school year if the board acts on the proposal.
The Platte City Chamber of Commerce recently installed officers for 1992. Sworn in were Ervin Uhrig, president; John Glick, vice president; and Kelly Parkhurst, treasurer; Sandy Asher, secretary; was absent. Al Carroll, chamber member and past chamber president, gave the oath of office.
The Platte County Business and Professional Association at its annual banquet Saturday named Billy Joe West as “Citizen of the Year.” The award is presented for community leadership.
Superintendent Don Siegrist is now under contract with the Platte County R-3 School District through the 1994-95 school year.
Missouri Public Service has contributed $350,816.80 to support schools and other services in Platte County.
