30 Years Ago–Jan. 3, 1992

The Platte County preliminary budget for 1992 calls for general fund revenue and expenditures of $6,215,978. The $6.2 million in revenues includes $1,150,292 in cash carry-over. Bob Griffith, county auditor who prepared the budget, emphasized that the county will have to continue to keep a good carryover. He said the county will have to be “basically careful” in the next three or four years.


David and Janet Crumbley are the proud parents of a baby boy born Dec. 16 at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was named Benjamin David.


Judge John M. Yeaman has announced he will retire from his 6th Circuit judicial post on Feb. 2. Yeaman has served as a former judge of the probate court, ex-officio magistrate judge of Platte County, and mayor of Weston before being appointed judge on March 9, 1966. He was returned to office in 1966 and 1970 in elections and retained by voters in 1976, 1982, and 1988.


Gerry and Melissa Love, Kansas City, Mo. are the parents of a baby born Dec. 22, 1992. The young boy has been named Jacob Michael.


Work has been completed this week on a new outside exercise area for the Platte County Jail. The final touch was the fenced-in area topped off with coils of razor wire.
