The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced crews will install a four-way stop at Hwy. 273, Hwy. 371 and Tracy Dr.
Motorists can anticipate some slight traffic shifts and traffic control at the intersection while the work is underway, MoDOT says.
There will be stop signs, advanced warning signs and stop bars at the intersection to advise motorists of the new changes. Following the installation of the stop signs, all traffic will be required to come to a complete stop, prior to maneuvering through the intersection.
The installation of the four-way stop is due in part to a recent traffic study that concluded that the current traffic volume warranted traffic signals at the location.
However, MoDOT says the installation of full traffic signals requires several years of planning and implementation, so it describes the four-way stop as a “temporary” measure in the meantime.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
