Dressed in a suit, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas raced with kids through the new splash pad water fountains at the new Central Park area in Zona Rosa on Saturday, Sept. 18.

A day-long grand opening celebration for the area featured live music, food trucks, face painters, balloon artists and other activities. The re-developed green space includes new fountains, a children’s play area, shaded swings, some covered seating and new main stage. Live performances were given by the bands Lyin’ Eyes and The Suburbans.
