Two people were killed in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 29 early on Labor Day morning.
Kansas City police say the crash occurred just north of North Oak Trafficway about 4:30 a.m. on Monday. Sgt. Jacob Becchina of the Kansas City Police Department told The Landmark that the initial investigation has determined that a Chevrolet Malibu had been northbound in the southbound lanes of the interstate when it collided head-on with a Ford Fusion.
Police as of early Tuesday had not yet released identities of the victims. Becchina said the driver/lone occupant of the Ford, identified as Roslyn Esau, a 23-year-old Kansas City woman, died at the scene. The driver/lone occupant of the Malibu was identified as Oree French, a 60-year-old man from Kansas City. The man died a short time after his arrival at an area hospital.
