Construction crews were busy on Monday at the splash park in Platte City, which is scheduled to open next month at the site of the former Rising Star Elementary School off Second Street. Long-awaited playground equipment has finally arrived and is in the process of being assembled, as finishing work around the splash pad continues. DJ Gehrt, city administrator for Platte City, said the target date for opening is Sept. 11. There will be no admission fee to use the splash pad, which will not be manned by personnel, as the equipment is self-operational via push-button type controls.
