Cops and Kids event set Tuesday evening

Get ready for another community event in downtown Platte City.

Just a little more than a month ago, the City of Platte City was hosting a daytime Fourth of July celebration that turned out to be wildly popular.

Another downtown event returns next week.

On Tuesday, Aug. 10, the 11th Annual Cops and Kids event will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Platte City.

The public is invited to enjoy an evening out, getting to know your local public safety officials. There will also be some displays of public safety equipment.

It’s a community-building event designed to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while highlighting a true sense of community.

Event activities will include face painting, balloon artistry, a bounce house, an inflatable obstacle course, dunk tank, laser tag and much more.

Free food options will also be offered to attendees. The free food options will include hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, snow cones and Dippin’ Dots.

The hot dogs and hamburgers will be served by Nodaway Valley Bank, the Central Platte Fire Department and other volunteers.

City officials say community volunteers are welcome to join in to assist with popcorn and snow cone preparation or activity supervision. Contact City Hall at 816-858-3046 for more information.
