The Platte County Sheriff’s Department is investigating what it is terming a “suspicious death” that occurred in a residence in the Misty Woods subdivision in southern Platte County on July 1.
Major Erik Holland says a 29-year-old female died after an incident inside the residence. Witnesses told police the death was the result of a freak accident when the female bounced onto a bed, flipped off of it and landed on the jagged edge of a broken bottle. Her neck was cut by the broken bottle, witnesses have told police
Holland said all witnesses are cooperating with investigators. No arrests have been made. The incident remains under investigation, Holland said on Tuesday.
Last month the Misty Woods subdivision was the site of a five-hour standoff with the sheriff’s department SWAT team. In that incident, which occurred in the 6000 block of 48th Street, a man was allegedly yelling at a neighbor while holding a weapon. He then retreated inside his house and yelled at responding officers to get off his property. The incident ended without violence and the man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Last week’s suspicious death occurred about four houses down from last month’s standoff, Holland said.
