Health and safety precautions in the Park Hill School District, including masks, will remain the same through the final nine and a half days of the school year, school officials announced on Friday.
On Thursday, the CDC changed its mask rules for fully vaccinated people, but most students are not vaccinated and the CDC guidance for schools has not changed.
By keeping current plans in place, Park Hill “will be able to continue our modified quarantine rules, which we put in place on April 9,” school officials announced. “This allows us to avoid quarantining people who properly wear their masks.”
Missouri officials at the Department of Health and Senior Services and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education only allow this if the school has a mask requirement.
“Avoiding quarantines means we will be able to preserve important end-of-the-year opportunities and experiences for our students,” school officials said.

In the coming days, we will review any new guidance for schools from the CDC, from state officials and from our local health departments, to determine what our health and safety precautions will look like during summer school,” the district announced via email.
“As we navigate this new information, we appreciate the support of our students, staff and community,” said Superintendent Dr. Jeanette Cowherd. “Together, we have faced the challenges of this school year, and we will finish strong.”
