Mr. and Mrs. Michael McGinness, of Platte City, announce the birth of their daughter, Marcie Gayle McGinness, at North Kansas City Memorial Hospital. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. McGinness of Lathrop, Mo. Marcie was born Jan. 12, 1976.
Mrs. Lucile L. Jones, editor of The Landmark, became ill in Smithville last Friday afternoon and was admitted to Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville.
The underrated matmen of Platte County R-3 surprised everyone and came away with all of the marbles Saturday at the Platte City Invitational. Defending champions, Cameron, along with Lamoni and Richmond were expected to be in the running for the championship with the Pirates finishing somewhere in the middle.
Jane Cox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy G. Cox, is a patient at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Kansas City, where she has had eye surgery. Her twin sister, Judy Cox, will have eye surgery Friday at the same hospital.

Only one telephone directory per household will be delivered to United Telephone Company customers beginning in 1976. United Telephone’s “directory conservation program” has been started for ecological and economic reasons. Paper shortages in the past have indicated a need for paper conservation.
