45 Years Ago–December 19, 1975

A Christmas dance is planned for Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Platte County Fairgrounds beginning at 9 p.m. Music will be provided by Bum Williams and The Country Gentlemen.


Dr. and Mrs. Henry J. Miller of Platte City will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children.


Sunday evening, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Platte City the public is invited to a special Christmas Candlelight Service.


Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rollins were hosts Dec. 14 for an early Christmas get-together and also to celebrate the 61st wedding anniversary of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rollins. Those present were their four sons and their wives, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Fire destroyed a home on Hwy. 92 near Platte City Tuesday afternoon. The fire started in a flue of a wood-burning stove that was being used to heat the living room of the home. No one was injured in the blaze, which began about 2:30 in the afternoon.


Several Platte Countians attended the Missouri Farm Bureau Annual Meeting a Tan-Tar-A Lodge. Keynote speaker was Earl Butz, secretary of the US Department of Agriculture. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Renner, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Harris from rural Kansas City; Rodney Oberhelman from Parkville, Joseph P. Pepper from Weston and Billy Joe West, rural Kansas City.
