45 Years Ago–December 5, 1975

Mrs. Nellie May Coffey was sworn in as Camden Point postmaster Monday, Nov. 24, 1975 with several of her friends present at the ceremony. Mrs. Coffey, and her husband, C.B. Coffey, are longtime residents of Camden Point and reside across the street from the post office.


The Platte City Board of Aldermen has approved a city budget of $251,158 for fiscal 1976, Mayor Donald R. Tharp said recently. The aldermen also voted to lower the city property tax levy from $1.60 to $1.43 on the $100 assessed valuation.


Mr. and Mrs. Porter Clifton of Roswell, New Mexico spent the holidays with Platte County relatives.


Brownie Troop No. 219 visited The Landmark office last Tuesday afternoon for an educational tour.


Mrs. Ada Milbourne of Golden, Colo. left today for her home after a two month visit with relatives and friends in Missouri.


Santa Claus will be in Platte City on Dec. 7, 11, 14 and 18 visiting with children. Event sponsored by the Platte City Lions Club

Kenneth Welch was installed worshipful master of Platte City Lodge 504 A.F. & A.M. at the Masonic Lodge in Weston on Saturday evening. Installation was preceded by a covered dish dinner.
