I don’t want to dampen your religious spirit, but I don’t really think God is involved in elections. You do you though. Honestly, elections are so complicated and fraught with immoral behavior, I have to believe that they are simply one of those things that God overlooks as too big to get involved with. It’s akin to letting your toddler play in the mud.
I am not an expert on how God operates, consult a pastor or priest before accepting the above as truth.
When is the next “most important election of our lives?”
If you were puffing your chest out over voting in this most recent national election, I’d like to see you take the same approach to the next local election. If you think Joe Biden or Donald Trump can fix your problems, imagine what a mayor or county commissioner could do for you or yours.
This is the infuriating part of voting to me. Everyone was running around with their heads cut off over this election because lots of famous people told us we should be excited, and it resulted in huge turnout. We need that same type of turnout for local elections. I would argue that the local elections are more impactful on your day to day life than national elections, yet they come and go each year with 40-50% turnouts. These are the people that prosecute crime, raise your water bill and build your streets.
The problem is that doesn’t fit the new social media environment we live in. Who will care if you put your “I voted” sticker picture on Facebook if it’s a small local election? Perhaps we could vote without the need for social media validation of our effort, but I know that’s asking a lot.
Poor Georgia. Unless you sell politically advertising, I feel sorry for those people. Basically, the entire free world is going to be pouring money into the Senate race runoffs that will take place in January. If you like your television to be political ad free and you live anywhere near Georgia, you might as well stay on Netflix and cut the cord to other sources.
Georgia has two senate seats in “runoff” status and apparently there were no votes to be found on the counting room floor to settle these races, so it goes to January and it will basically be the break point between having a federal government that is completely controlled by the Democratic party or allow a Republican controlled senate to maintain a balance on the Democratic controlled house and White House.
The Democrats will need to win both to have a controlling interest in the Senate. I can already hear the mail in ballots being loaded onto the loading docks!
Finally, I feel kind of sorry for President Trump. I’m afraid he is going to end up being more infamous than famous and he appears to be a few days away from being paired with O.J. on his morning tee times. Heck, lawsuits are going to so dog him for the rest of his life, he may end up rooming with O.J. I get that people don’t feel sorry for him and it’s probably deserved considering the many things he has said and done, but I think in the end this may be the saddest post presidential existence we will see in our lifetimes; unless you want to consider the toll of living with Hillary has taken on President Clinton.
